Byron Bay’s markets are a magnet for locals and visitors throughout the year, whether your passion is handcrafted pieces for your home or wardrobe, or delicious, organic produce from local farms.
FARMERS MARKET
Every Thursday (7am – 11am), Byron Bay hosts a local Farmer’s Market in Butler Street which is located just down the road from The Lily Pad, very convenient for those early morning shopping expeditions to beat the crowds. You’ll pick up not only fresh fruit and veggies, but also hand made cheeses, organic meat, poultry and seafood. Bring your own market bags because you’ll also have the chance to pick up bottles of freshly pressed olive oil, organic cordials, crusty organic bread and bright tropical flowers. Take a seat and enjoy a coffee and fresh cooked breakfast while listening to the unique sounds of local musicians and performers.
SUNDAY MARKETS
A roving schedule of Sunday markets takes place in the Byron shire, featuring an extensive array of local handicrafts, fashion, bric-a-brac, delicious locally produced food and live music. The Byron Bay market takes place on the 1st Sunday of each month, in the Butler St Reserve, the same location as the Thursday Farmer’s Market. If your stay doesn’t coincide with the Byron Market, be sure to visit the Bangalow market (4th Sunday) or The Channon market (2nd Sunday). Find out more about the local markets here.
EVENTS & FESTIVALS
In addition to the weekly markets, Byron Bay plays host to a number of special events and festivals throughout the year, including the internationally renowned Byron Bluesfest over the Easter long weekend.
