So close to town
What an absolutely breathtakingly, beautiful property! Photos don’t do this one justice, we were blown away by the spectacular landscape and thought that’s gone into the gardens! Our little pup, Rory had an absolute blast adventuring and exploring all day and we loved how peaceful the Lily Pad was, even though it was so close to town! A true hidden oasis. 40th Birthday Getaway
Was the perfect location to celebrate my birthday with those closest and to get some much needed R&R. The property was very clean, spacious and had all of the necessary amenities required inside and out plus more, whether staying a night or two or for a week. I particularly enjoyed sitting on the deck with a coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the afternoon, taking in the beautiful gardens, watching the wild life and listening to the birds. I loved that I felt a million miles away from the hustle and bustle but was only a 5 minute drive into the CBD of Byron. “I love the Byron shire and all that it stands for and whenever I’m in town I choose the Lily Pad as my place to be when escaping the cold Melbourne Winters. Whether it’s taking in the morning sights and sounds of local wildlife whilst sitting out on the deck over a bowl of cornflakes or chilling by the outdoor fire at dusk with a cuppa tea in hand you can’t go wrong at any time of the day here. It’s modern and clean, reclusive yet close enough to the amenities of town and you are surrounded by colourful and calming gardens – even when the rain comes down it’s a magic place to relax and just take it all in. I can assure you once you’ve been and seen it for yourself you’ll be booking your next visit as soon as you get back home and realise what you’re missing. “This is a little slice of paradise! Close enough to Byron for the beaches, restaurants and nightlife but far enough away for some peace and tranquility. It’s well worth a walk around the garden at night with a torch; we spotted something different every night. Some of the things we saw:
- a possum with baby on its back
- a long-nose potaroo
- tawny frogmouth
- green catbird
- figbird
- plenty of wallabies
- an unknown snake!

“Lily Pad is absolutely idyllic. It is so tranquil; set in the most beautiful garden. It is an oasis, yet close to Byron for beaches, restaurants and cafes. The accommodation is so well appointed and comfortable. It had everything we needed and felt luxurious. It is a true escape. It is amazing to sit on the verandah looking over the garden, bushland and paddock with horses. We absolutely loved it. Third visit to Byron and a bit chaotic because of schoolies week but enjoyed exploring Brunswick Heads, New Brighton farmer’s market, Mullumbimby farmer’s market (the best!) Bangalow and Newrybar (loved the Harvest Cafe there). Discovered the Balcony Bar for the best cocktails, the hole-in-the-wall taco place (Chihuahua) and great Vietnamese street food just near Woolworths. It’s so close to Byron 1-2kms but in a rural setting so it’s full of wildlife, peaceful and great for families and couples.
